Cool Help me build the 'Dream' Bream boat

Hi all,

After seeing all the flash rigs at Vic. B.R.E.A.M. Round 1 and picking up a heap of great ideas, I'm after what you'd do to a boat to make it special.

Doesn't matter what the idea is, and as much detail as possible - from the lockable rod lockers, to the brand and size of boat.

I'm fairly certain about what hull I want, but with the interior layout and design I'm only half there.

Throw anything at me - I want this boat to be perfect

Cheers,

The perfect bream boat would have

Enough rigged rod storage. ie: enough space to store 6 rods horizontally(2x Spin +Fly). I've been agonising over the placement and layout in my Hornet.

2X Built in tackle lockers holding Plano type plastic trays, adjacent to 2x rigging stations (Pliers, cutters, leader& other necessities for rigging)

Live well located forward of the balance point when boat at rest and alaigned with the keel, live well should have baffles to reduce water movement.

Side looking sounder, I use a Hummingbird 3D + side looking. 3D is good for identifying structure, side will pickup fish out to 20m and can located fish under structure (Boats, jetties etc)

Stealthy anchoring, cover anchor chain and as much of anchor as possible (Bike tube works well at reducing noise). I've lined my hull with a combination of carpet and rubber matting.

Comfy seats, drink holders, esky tie downs, personal equipment storage (Sunscreen, glasses etc)

Some boats have two don't they? One in the bow and one in the stern. Helps when the driver is pulling with the electric at the bow, I've heard.

C'mon Dave, are you just trying to upset us and have us all green with envy?

I reckon the full length rod lockers with rubber rack stuff on the sides look terrific, and would be very practical too.
A side console looks great, but I'm not sure the loss of space compared to tiller steer is worth it on boats less than 5 metres.
Tackle lockers that open out of the back wall of the front casting deck look clever, the sort that hold Plano stowaway type boxes I mean.

We had the 2003 Lake Conjola Flathead Classic on the weekend and the "WOW" factor of some of the boats was incredible.

Some of the blokes are so ingenious, if you could put ALL those ideas into a single hull..........well, I suppose that would be boating Nirvana

My own dream boat for my local water way, would be a huge alloy oyster punt.....oh the possibilities of fitting all that flat space out would be insane........even room for a couple of swags

Jeez Dave see what your doing, your making the natives restless

Probably the Stessl Stinger 4.8 - I've really fallen for it, but I'm not happy with the layout so I'll probably end up buying a bare hull (if I can) and doing everything from there.

It is sweeeeeet

Here's a pic:

do you mean you will get the interior professionally fitted out by someone else or do it yourself, I often wondered whether it would be possible to buy a bare hull and fit the interior out yourself?

Thanks
Matt

Richo, from memory, with a 70 2 stroke Yammy on the back it was around the 26K mark... give or take a couple of grand.

Matt - I would look at getting it done by a professional, in very close consultation with myself.

My current boat was a bare hull with 2 cross thwarts and I did the rest myself

Bear - the Bass Boss is certainly sweet, but I just fell for the Tri-Hull, and it's suposedly stable as, and handles some rough stuff too

Sounds like I might have to change my mind. I had seen it advertised in the paper here, but wasn't sure about it's suitability. I just e-mailed my guys here to find out what it would cost through WA with a Honda donk.

Curious.

I had an idea for a bream boat a while back, and on paper it is a viable idea, unfortunatly I don't have the resources to make it a happening thing.
It was basically re-fitting out a 5 metre Hornet hull with a 3.5 litre alluminium V8 and a HJ212 Hamilton Jet drive. This would equate to having about 150 hp plus on the back for about 1/2 the cost. The seats would sit down real low beside the engine with a small deck along the back and the front a massive casting deck with everything stored underneath the decks.
