Swimbait Rods

Getting right into my cod fishing, but im looking to trow some bigger lures at them, from monster spinnerbaits, to sizeable surface lures and swimbaits. Just wondering what people use as well as what they know of is out thereand the price. I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars but i dont want junk either.

Cheers,

Mitch

I just bought a Major Craft Benkei (Heavy) which was landed for $167, an extra heavy (X) are about $200.

7', 2pc, stainless alconite semi micro fuji guides, upto 1.5 oz casting weight (heavy) (X heavy are up to 3oz).

The semi micro guides have no issues casting a J knot or a FG at all, only on the retrieve you'll find the tag hit the tip runner which is normal.

Fits a Curado 300e and comes in as a combo weighing 427 gr.

Not sure if the length is an issue but definitely helps with distance from the shore. Also doesn't have those super long butt sections like swimbait rods have which I prefer - comes to about my elbow.

They look good, how do you go about paying for them? do you need to convert money or is it all automated?

Depending if you want to buy from a site using paypal or direct deposit it all depends, I personally weight up a few factors and in this instance eBay was the prefered buying site.

With that, all the money transfer is done automatically via PayPal and shows you at that point what its going to cost inc any postage or taxes.

Very quick and simple buying platforms imho. Some others can be very tricky with other taxes, duties, change of hand costs and postage being way out of the ball park from what it should cost so be careful with some of the cheaper sites or do your homework on them first!

A few brands available locally. Then you can walk into a shop and actually try the rod on for size. Makes more sense than buying a rod from OS and taking the chance.
