Editing software

Hi guys
What is the best ( easiest to learn and use) editing software program to buy? For DSLR photos. Fish and travel photos into book format. Price not a real issue but good product at reasonable price preferred.

How easy do you want it to be? What camera? Do you want shots published? How much are you willing to spend?

Light room and photoshop are pretty standard, though may be easy or difficult to use, depending on how easily you learn computer programs. I like using Capture One for my Sony mirrorless cameras and it has great cataloguing features as well as extensive editing options.

Yep... Lightroom is one of the best software you can edit photo into book. Sent directly to Blurb. Not the lowest pricing but I like the service and you books remain in their server great to share it with family and friend with digital copy. So if your kids destroy a couple pages you can reorder another copy. Blurb customer service also awesome (I wish Daiwa can learn excel in this). If I not happy with the book for any reason they always try to help out and after 4 years with them...I stil am a very happy Blurber...

Photoshop is not an easy software to learn but there are plenty of youtube video to learn from, we don't have this luxury in 1996 with Photoshop V1.

So give them both a try, once you master it, it a joy.

I was using photoshop for a while in 2014 and 2015 for something to do while recovering from surgery. With the aid of online tutorials it's not that hard to use at an amateur level (general airbrushing, colour correction etc..)

From memory, I think the price varies depending on where you buy it. Directly through adobe it was $120 per year. Think it was $240 per year through JB Hi Fi.

Free and with heaps of online resources is GIMP which is a Photoshop alternative. I started on that then shelled out for PS after learning the ropes.

I reckon Lightroom is terrific value for the money.
It has plenty of auto edits to get you started and lots of "control" as you gain more confidence.
Sites like this one http://digital-photography-school.com/ will help you get your head around it.

If you are planning to fish that spot near the goat - watch out - the bears have moved in for winter
