Anti reverse switches are great.

There's no side plate... so just the rear cover, and the side... screw plate.

Monocoque body on a small size reel. Does anyone have any insight on what real world benefit that brings?

https://daiwafishing.com.au/products/18exist/

Looks like Daiwa Aust has finally got someone who understands Daiwa's technology to write up their product descriptions. The product write up is fairly consistent with the Daiwa Jp marketing, unlike some of their previous product descriptions. Its pretty bad when customers know more about their products than their own marketing dept.

Now if only they improve their shore game/beach/rock rod cast ratings....have these guys actually done any fishing before? How much does a reasonable size sinker (eg 4-5oz star) plus mulie weigh?? Would it make sense to have beach rods that can actually cast these weights rather than just lob them out? Hello?? Daiwa Aust product development are you listening?? Look at the Daiwa US and Daiwa UK surf rod line ups - much more practical cast ratings.

Sorry to derail this thread....pls carry on

The engine looks like it got inspiration from Van Staal.

Going by Daiwa history a new Luvias should be soon, I thought it would have been out by now also.

I read somewhere that the new Luvias will be a 2019 release. Don't know if early or later in the year.
Hopefully we get standard shallow spool models!
