Braid scissors?

Been using Dr Slick braid scissors for years now and have been happy but age has taken its toll so need to purchase another pair of scissors and looking to see if any of the plethora of scissors are any better than the Dr Slicks. Will be using them mainly on lines less than 20lb.
So what is everyone using and why.

Thanks Mark M, like the look of the Snowpeak AC-007. We do a lot of work using a very fine Japanese 7lb braid and these look the goods for us. Japan Tackle recommend them for just this task. Have dealt with them before and find his comments and opinions honourable. Most scissors work well enough on heavier braids it is only when you use them on the light stuff you need the right scissors for the job.

Define limp, because that 6lb looks pretty wirey firm to me. Is it a thermofused line like Fireline or similar?

Limp would be something braided in however many carriers there are now - my run of the mill 4lb or 8lb Sunline Super PE has very little body in comparison it seems.

By “limp” I meant not under tension

The line is 6lb kast king 4 strand braid, it’s a lot “limper” than fireline, but it is coming straight off a spool, unused

Most braids when new and straight off the spool have some body to them. However following several trips and being cast and stretched some start loosing their coating which supports the braid giving body and stiffness. I don't think it affects the strength any as it looses the coating but does in our case make it more difficult to cut cleanly. At home in my workshop i have no problems with it. No wind, dry hands, plenty of time, bright workshop light and all is well. On the boat however trying to get a neat close cut is more of a challenge. Like many i tie my leaders at home but at times have to do this on the go. I think i may try one of each, the cheaper Berkley which a lot of people use and recommend and get some of those Snowpeaks just to spoil myself and see if there is much of a difference between the two.

Yeah that soundS like an interesting experiment. The Berkeley’s dont last for ever but they are good straight out of the packet and a year or 2 later. Depending on use (or mis-use). They can stay sharp for longer. But mine get used for a lot of things other than cutting braid. So it would be interesting to see how long they last in the hands of someone who looks after their gear

From cable ties to chicken thighs - my scissors see some action before they dies
