What Would You Add
With so many guys, and gals, getting into boating now, I thought it would be a good idea to see what people add to their std boat and trailer to make it better to use\travel etc.
I have a few: Boat straps rather than ratchet straps. Something like: http://breammaster.com/store/category285_1.htm A spare tyre. Amazing how many people don't get one. A walkway down the centre of the trailer. Can't find a pic of Mullet's, but it makes a HUGE difference to retrieving your boat. Here's a start, what else do you think is a good idea?

- A spare hub and bearings pre-packed and ready to fit - who wants to muck around with a grease gun/bearings etc on the side of the road? - A must with a Quintrex trailer as they have there own stud pattern
- Bearing buddies - Swap the winch cable for a strap - safer, easier, longer lasting - LED trailer lights - 50,000 hours use - "never" need replacing - A swing up jockey wheel - just handy - A lock for your trailer - absolute must at ramps - Spare wheel nuts - A bilge pump - so many people don't have them (and may regret it - ask Hodgey) - A sea/drift anchor - Spare fuses - First aid kit - Fire extinguisher - Spare props for the kota and outboard - Spare pins for the kota - A reasonable smallish tool kit for onboard (that won't rust) - Travel cover to keep wind resistance down and the crap out - Stone guards to stop the pride and joy getting chipped That'll do for now |

My boat I keep a spare bolt or such for the cog that attaches to the winch handle. The trailer wasnt that loved when I got it, second time out winching the boat out of the water almost knocked myself out when the roll pin in the winch snapped.
Water proof lights are a must, god damn non-water proof light bar gives me the #$&@#$&@#$&@#$&@s. Bucket for back up bailing For when popping the bung and giving the engine stick will not empty the boat of water. Speaking of bungs, spare bungs for us old schoolers keeping it real Flares just in case everything turns to crap |

Another one which has been a life saver are the rod buckles. I had the strap style fitted to my dad's Hornet and it's been great. I prefer these to the rubber ones delivered with some of the O\S boats.

Another one for any boat that has lockers are locker springs. Easy to fit and a finger saver for sure.
Open spring.

A set of wheel bearings pre-packed with blu marine grease and stored in the grease container itself, with a spare split pin, is a compact backup. Remember to add a set of marine seals for your hub/axle config. Found that most bearing buddy set-ups pop the inside seal with excess grease/use. A good back-up I have seen is to reverse the old inside seals when replacing them and slide them just past the seal shoulder on the axle, Fix them in place on the axle with a SS hose clamp and the NEW inside seal will push up against it, lasting a lot longer before moving. You can tell if the inside seal has moved because the inner part of your rims will have the telltale pattern of radial grease splatters. Most guys just keep pumpin grease into the "buddies" but this will eventually lead to tears. Spare KOTA shear pins are kool but only if you have the tools to change them. NB Kota shear pins are like "rockin' horse poop". Can of INNOX and 5ltrs of BPs finest. |

I put them on my trailer and filled them till the spring was under tension without blowing out the axle seal and have had no dramas at all. With the kota pin I found it was easy to to get the prop off (with modified tools) but hard to get the pin out because of the bend in the pin (and the rust). "Rockin horse poop"?? They don't exist?? Carol I'd say your set up as a marine rescue rig. If you carry a paramedic on board you would be set Your boat must be overweight with all that gear you girl guide. I though I had most contigencies covered but I'm under-equiped |

Small man with Big Brains, many thanks to Dear Old Muzz, it is a miracle, never though this problem could be resolved, a boat built for all sexes! This should be display in the Boat Show I reckon! Proud to have a boat with your invention mate! I'll never ever be a non-boater again, except in your boat.
PS - Want so much to fish Albany as a non-boater but can't! Quote:
