Handle knobs for shimano baitcasters/spinreels
OK
I'm over the MAGICAL MELTING HANDLE KNOBS that Shimano make. I need to replace the knobs on my CH 101D7 and a Calcutta 201D...TYPE A SHAFT...before I purchase alternative knobs from OS I am wondering if anyone has some non septone knobs wood aluminium eva ect they want to offload. I am thinking of getting alternate knobs from japan tackle,if anyone knows of a better site let me know. Thanks Mike |

Stile , Stile SS and Engetsu have 3 variations of eva knobs.
You will have to order the knob, oring and end caps. 3 colour end caps available , black , red and silver. A special tool is required to remove the end cap. I am so over melting septon grips also, Shimano need to wake up to them selves but they continue to use them😡. |

They have started to use a different knob rubber which isnt regarded as Septone.
I just use RCS knobs...

A few people have asked me about cork knobs in the past. I don't know if anyone else has seen these, it might be old news but I just happened upon them today. Fits 7mm shaft. Anyone had any experience with them?

The knobs on say the latest G Curado i got are septon and the previous owner made them go shiny with use, all i did was scrub with degreaser and then washing liquid and they come up like new and velvety feeling - still changing them out...

Thanks T303 and Juzza will look into it all!
I have cut the sticky mess off the chronach knobs and the plastic bit left will suffice till I sort something. When I look at the range of customization products available for Daiwa I just wonder what goes on in Shimano Think Tank HQ.... Last edited by madman; 03-01-2018 at 07:41 PM. |

Just fit the cheap corks to my G series...
Well pretty cheap but ultimately disappointed - thick and quiet abrupt in their feel but will work. A mass of leftovers in regards to shims as shown. Actually just end up bastardising the fitment and using 3 bearings per knob - I'm not using 8 shim washers per knob of varying thicknesses... Also with only two bearings there is a OD variance between OD of bearing and ID of handle shaft inner surface of 0.13mm which is very noticeable with movement - two bearings in on the outer screw side and viola stiffened up. As per pictures - bit gaudy and very cheap and one had a lovely scratch straight across the face of the garnish plate which does balls...

Cont.
Second pic - you can see the gap between bearing outer and shaft inner. Second last pic - threads of the garnish cap and inner bearing shaft tube - rough and very loose key fitting. Last pic is what you get.

And did a bit of recessing - cut into the cork to allow the exposed garnish cap to screw down flish into the cork - should now limit the amount of scratches...
Definitely a rubberized cork composition - hard to cut into even with a sharp brand new scalpel - so should last a fair while.

just curious, cant you put it on a lathe and do some more sanding?.
perhaps that first and if it doesn't suit, epoxy it and shape it to desire.....similar to the carbon handles on most rods that looks smooth n slick. |

I wouldnt say if it'd be a smart move within regards to reshaping - rubberised cork...
Anyhow with the now seated end cap.

Got the other profile. Definitely more ergonomic however the rubberized compound is on the nose and very profound. Otherwise will work well on my Curado 50e.
Quiet weighty also which can be pro and con.
