I know what you are saying, being a tackle junkie too. But, honestly, to complain about a reel on looks alone to Daiwa is a little far fetched.

Sure, Daiwa has gone for a new look. I'm sure they are aware people may be dissapointed. But then again, some might find the design appealing.

Regardless, in the end it's about performance. Might be twice as good as the current steez and Stella, but your opinion is made, and you may never know..

I actually don't mind the new look, handle in a but of an eye sore but it sort of has a futuristic design going on.

I probably won't go as far as buy one, but it could grow on me and maybe some others.
Nah your right, how dare I have something to say about the look. Not like I spend more in a year than what most people would spend in a lifetime.

Let me ask you a question; do you own even 1 top end Daiwa reel?

Ofcourse looks have something to do with why people buy a reel. For that kind of money I want a classy looking reel aswell as premium performance. They have failed to produce the goods.

No cheers to you
Chris

Some buy SOLs to drive Prado T/D

It's all about priorities, not just affordability.

Would you drive a pink Nissan Micra with spinning rims because it got amazing fuel econmy and never needed servicing? Or a monster truck with a massive V8 in it that got 50L's to the 100k's? (I don't know the specs of the micra itself im just using that as an example lol)

Don't think they have. As soon as I hear they are, I get as many as I (reasonably) can...

And yeah, I think this new steez is a fail in the looks area, however I almost never base my choice on the pure looks of the reel.

The now old Steez is a Daiwa's benchmark on performance, quality and looks I reckon.

Cheers,

Run boys run, I would be all over the soon to be "old" model runouts. That is one ugly reel. Chris, I knew you would see the light, you were going to go Shimano before you lashed out on your Steez collection remember!

It does look a bit weird, I'd probably spend the extra on an exist, just coz it looks less spaceship like. See how it goes when they're in hand
