alphas Type R

I have just picked up a Alphas Type R in top condition and I want to load it up with some braid ,I was just wondering how to load the braid on,I have only had baitcasters with a parallel spool and not a tapered spool. Do I still load with some mono for backing or can I tie the braid to one of the small holes in the
tapered spool?I am going to use a 150m spool of TD Sensor and any ideas if this will fill the spool with out any backing?

If you want to tie directly to the spool, give the spool a few wraps of plumber's tape. It'll also keep any water from 'filtering' down the spool into the spool bearing.

Otherwise, a metre (or more) of cheap mono backing will do. You might have to put more if the 150m of braid doesn't fill the spool 100%.

Really no diff to how you'd fill up a flat bottom spool.
