Spanish macks to 13.5kg, Yellowfin and longtail to 6kg, Salmon to 8kg and 8 months on I'm still to service it :P Runs a bit rough nowadays but a nice solid little reel. Definitely need to upgrade the knob, but thats daiwas whole concept in putting a crappy knob on it, tackle junkies will pay for an RCS.

im using the 3012 certate for chasing tailor etc
great reel for throwing lures and poppers etc
not so good for bait though makes winding in gar fish etc hard work. id say due to the high gearing, while being fast doesnt provide much tourqe.
and also having a shallow spool only holds 150 meters of 15 pound.
in saying that its more than enough for most fish though.
the only complaint i have is the drag has so much micro adjustment it feels as though you turn it a lot for not much more additional drag pressure.
proly just need to get used to it though.

I'm a little surprised also that those higher end reels don't come standard with a power knob!

My Luvias DA 2500R came standard with power knob (cap not engraved with RCS) and the 3000 size comes standard with it also.

Have had the reel for nearly 2 years now.

And since writing the review it has copped a beating catching snapper to 8kg, lots of dhu fish to 13kg, golden trevally, mangrove jack and more.

Still runs great and does'nt seem to need a service.

Im definately sold on the Mag Seal, especially since my boat is a wet boat and my reels get alot of salt sprayed on them.

Here is a quick pic of a big Dhu caught on it.
Also got some video footage of the fight.

Happily say it is worth twice as much as a sol. Which is what i set out to find out in this review

yeah saw that the other day.

Would love one but i cant really justify a highspeed model with less capacity.

Plus the budget wont allow it .

Been testing the New calida vs the New new Sustain for the last 6 months.

Calida seems great for the price and id be more inclined to get a 2000 model over a 2000 certate, The drag is as smooth and its lighter.

Dont really need the solidness of the ceratate when chasing bream.
The new luvias would be even better...........when i win lotto

Yeah for sure, the new Caldia is a great reel. I've had mine for a while now and am a big fan. I'll be getting a new Luvias, I'll find a way haha.

Thats a monster fish! I've had my 3000 Certate for about 6 Months now roughly but havn't fished with it much at all. It feels like the smoothest Certate I own. Really need to get out and chase some decent fish! This definitely gives me motive!

Is it just me (often it is ) or does anyone else think that the '10 Certate is a better looking reel than the '13s? The second hand '10s on a lot of Japan sites are not much cheaper than the new 'tates but I just can't handle the way the spool looks.
cheers
Steve
