Sunline Super Pe
Hi guys,
Getting a new shimano symetre and bought a spool of 6lb super pe to spool it up with. Has anyone used this line before and if so how does it compare to fireline etc. Thanks, Sam

Way better than fireline IMO however, in my experience, overfilling will lead to misery with excessive windknots. Well it was the case with 2004 spooled daiwas. Once i lowered the line level it was far better.
Been using 6lb Super PE8 for the last 12 months on a 2506 and have no complaints at all.

The major difference I've found is - It doesnt coil like fireline does so it gives better bight detection when fish are just pecking at lightly weighted lures. Here's an exaggerated drawing of what I mean Last edited by yellow door 1; 05-07-2016 at 08:30 PM. |

As per the thread larry put up - I used it, I loved it, it had random breakages as it aged, it lost me a good fish, I hated it.
Since then I've been using 6lb sunline super PE 8 braid and unitoka shore game .8PE/10lb and been very happy with both. Edit: I think fireline is horrible. Get a true, limp braid. That coiling behaviour larry has so eloquently shown will drive you nuts for fishing light lures on the drop and for bite detection |

I personally would use an 8 lb. It is still very thin.

Use both. Agree with CK that it is important not to overfill the spool with the Sunline and agree with Alex to use 8lb rather than the 6. Combination of 6lb with to much braid on a 2000 spool has been a lesson learnt. Also purchased a 2004 reel from a BM member 2 years ago that came with 4.4lb Fireline Tournament on it and it is still going strong without any issues. Regards, HBt.

Similar problems with the 6lb but that was a few years ago now.
Be very careful with line management.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will take in mind when spooling the reel to not overfill. Hopefully it will serve me well.
Thanks, Sam.
