Makocraft frenzy owners!!!

Hi guys I have just ordered a makocraft frenzy and now have to sit and wait till its ready...

Just wanting to know what the performance is like with the track rail bottom, I am thinking of getting this feature removed to assist speed.

what do owners currently get from their rigs?

example (source modern fishing boat test)

470 Frenzy 75hp Otimax WOT 56.8 km/h @ 5400rpm

cheers in advance

I have attached a pic from that article for those who are unsure what a frenzy is....

Makocraft would have it there for a reason.....

Sometimes I think speed is overrated. Lets be honest, most time will be spent cruising at 14-18 knots anyway. Just my opinion.......

I tend to drive at two speeds mate, 7 knots or flat knacker... so top end speed is important for me...

They (the track rails) are fitted for stability, but many other hulls i.e bluefins, horizons, quintrex's dont have them and the stability is fine. The other added benefit I think is the turning ability the rails give the hull. "like its on train tracks" is what people have said about their makocrafts.

I'd hope a few Frenzy owners would post their likes and dislikes and the speed of their rigs...

Cheers Shauno

Pm "knobby" on this site. He has a mako with a 90 tohatsu DI and its hitting the 35knot mark I think. Looks to be a nice boat and more than suited for breaming and offshore work.

I couldn't imagine it making any difference to be honest. The amount of drag would be negligible and the benefits would far outweigh any downside I would imagine. I'm sure the hull would weigh a bit more because of it but it would be more solid too. The fact that it is more solid should also improve it's ride in rougher water also which would allow you to carry more speed anyway.

Hi Shauno

The Frenzy in the test was a Max Frenzy 4mm bottom. The Mako 470 Frenzy is a lighter boat with 3mm bottom and has the Trak Rails not the Outer Edge Hull like the Max. I have a 470 Mako Frenzy and it has reached over 70kph on GPS with 75hp four stroke. The boat seems to lift and run on the trak rails and handles like a go cart. It feels like it could handle more power, but i suppose there is really no need, it is extremely stable running and at rest. ideal for PPB, lakes and rivers where I fish. I sure you will not be disappointed once you get your boat.

Have a chat with Makocraft if you want a bigger donk on it. They have said that my boat can go upto a 200hp on the back and it was rated out of the factory for only 150hp.

But really, how fast do you need to go

I just got a message from toby (knobby) His with the 90 tohatsu DI gets 32 knots with 2 people full well and all the fishing gear etc. Not sure if thats been propped/lifted for optimum performance etc.

My tracker PT175 gets 30 knots 1 up empty well etc thats with the 50hp merc 2 stroke. I have a 90 etec on its way in the next couple of weeks so hopefully that will see me pass shane

32 times 1.852 (km/h conversion)

thats only 59km fully loaded though...

lets hope with a jack plate and a suitable prop that I can eclipse that...

Have spoken with Makocraft, the standad frenzy 470 is rated to 75hp, so they ahve upped the plate to 90hp.

Cheers for the continued feedback.

I got the Max Frenzy with 90 tohatsu, and it hasn't really being optimized, it's rated for 120, I find any speed over 20 knots offshore is useless as the crew like to stay in their seats for some reason? Seriously the boat has done everything asked of it and couldn't be happier with an all-purpose craft. I'm not on this site regularly anymore but if you got any questions make them in the next week or so and i'll try get back..
