Broken pin on Minn Kota prop shaft!!

One side of the small pin on my Minn Kota prop shaft that the propeller clips onto has appeared to have rusted and snapped off,, Can this be easily replaced? Is this pin one full pin that slides thru the shaft or is it two shorter pins that go in on either side of the shaft??
Any advice on how to fix this or where I can get a replacement pin would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!!!!

thats a shear pin mate, its there so that it breaks if you hit anything like trees, rocks etc.
its meant to be a single full pin and fits into a slot in the prop
you should have got a spare one in the box, otherwise might have to contact them for one.
ive never actually seen them for sale

It may have slid through a bit, pull it out of the shaft and check the fit for the length of the slot it has to go into on the prop, if too short for the slot it is broken, if it is a good fit length wise the pin has just slid over to one side too much, centre and replace prop.

Thanks for your help guys, it's definately snapped though, the piece that came off is as long as the piece that's left in the other side so it's pretty much snapped in half. I'll check to see if I got a spare in with all my boxes and manuals etc. Thanks again for the help.

Ah yes sorry didn't realize you had the other half.

If it is the 55lb there is a stainless welding rod that is about the same size. Know any welders.

No don't know any welders unfortunately, but I just found the pins on the bla website and they're only a couple dollars so I'll give them a call and see where the closest supplier is or if I can buy a couple online from somewhere.

If you have a Masters store have a look they have shear pins in various sizes.

Thanks mate, but I tracked some down thru Wagga marine, apparently they service the Minn Kota's so they had the pins in stock and they're gonna send me a few out, they were very helpful.

Glad to hear you got it sorted, I once ran into this problem on the water without a spare so a quick fix was to take my side cutters up the bank and found a fence made from high tensile wire and cut off a bit of excess that the farmer had kindly left me...worked like a charm.

Try a 1/8th drill bit for a quick fix.

Haha yeh I actually went through all my random old drill bits and things in the shed but they were all slightly to big. Anyway I ordered 5 new ones cause theyre only a couple dollars each, shouldn't have the problem again😀
