recoil guides
Been around for quite a while now Howard, Loomis & I think Miller Rods were the first to have them in up-spec rods here.
http://www.rec.com/products/recoil.html I recall that many builds had either the stripper guide and/or tip guide as a regular insert type. Seemed to be a bit noisier with older, coarse weave braid.

My G Loomis TSR has the recoil guides with a sic tip. Initially had issues with my leader knot catching in the stripper guide from time to time and I noted that others had reported the same. Choices on offer were to have the stripper guide replaced with a sic guide or change my knot. Went about the later and had far less issues. The recoils are supposedly more resistant to damage as they have a bend factor. Regards, HBt.
