Yeah mine was rough shaped with a pairing knife and very roughly sanded.

So it would be fluffy-ier than just about any cork currently on a fishing rod.

After recent experiences - sealing is sounding like a very good idea

Yeah thats not a bad idea -

I only discovered Fabric softener a few years ago. A magazine test said it out performs Some commercially made Water proofing applications for rain coats.

It didnt out perform them - but it does make your clothes smell heavenly

Crisis over - turns out a couple of goes with pine-o-clean and a stiff brush, and a few days in the garage, took care of the problem.

I reckon the good ole metho would've done a decent job, and while removing the moisture out of the Cork while killing all the germs in it.

Yeah maybe metho could have taken care of that pesky 0.1%
