Thanks. Is that a screenshot from Bunnings?
I'll measure up the butt diameter and head in. |

Yeah mate - Bunnings occassionally get the weights of their products wrong but it sounds about right for a sturdy outdoor rubber stopper |

Picked up the 25mm rubber stopper which fitted on snugly (weighed 25 grams) . Pulled it off and the bit of the rubber at the end of the butt came off. It revealed that this is actually a hidden weight system in the butt. I can actually add a couple of fuji washers (25grams) to the butt. There a bit of cork in there that can come out as well as a bit of extra space to hold 2 more. Messaged millerods to check on where I can get these washers. Ian Miller got back to say he'd send a couple to me if I post off a self addressed envelope. Awesome!! Heres a few picks of the weight system.

Nice find. Its often the cheaper things in life that provide us with the greatest joy . Interesting that no one knew about the hidden weight system. Regards HBt.

Now I need to check to see if my X Series Duffrod does the same thing. Regards HBt.

You might be onto something there. I just had a quick look at one of mine and it does appear the bottom of the cap is removable.

Just checked my Duffs and all 4 of my X series have the hidden weight system.
My Gen 2 flats rod doesn't.

Hi GH. How did you get the end cap off? Regards HBt.

About a 10mm up from the very bottom you can see the top of the cap. I just slid one of those old, yellow handled butter knives in the join and gently prized it off. Came off pretty easy.

Yeah true that - I wonder if the rod builders keep their hidden weight systems hidden or whether is just a little known fact.

To be honest mate I didn't even look because I'm happy how they are.

Just checked out one of my X-840s and it had the same 3 x 3/8 washers, total weight of 10g.
Chucked a reel on the rod and gave it a bit of a wave around and definitely feels better in the hand with the washers in.
