By that do you mean Shimano is in kilograms and Daiwa in pounds?

More suited to light snapper work IMO. I'd go no heavier than 2-5kg (4-12lb) for bream.

Hey kiddo, get a 7'6" Infeet (3-8lb or 1-4kg) with a 1000 Shimano Stradic OR 2000 Diawa Tierra. They are very similarly sized reels, it's just that Shimano and Daiwa have different systems of listing their reel sizes.

If your dad has the money for a Nitro (overpriced IMO) then he should have no problems getting this, you could pick up the Infeet and Stradic/Tierra combo for $400, whilst Nitro's usually retail for $300+!!!
