Mexican Raider ll bream finesse 1-4kg

Hi people, I have been lucky enough to be given one of these shimano rods today and need advice from people on the know as to what would be a good balanced reel to complement this rod. $250 is my limit. Have never had anything like it and is quite different to the garbage I already have. Can't wait to give it a crack.
Another thing...........with a 1-4kg rod is it harder to get a hook to set in the fishes mouth eg. Strike harder?
It's quite light so I'm a bit worried I might break it?.........haha

I strapped a 2500 ci4 when I was looking at those rods, Balanced quite nicely if memory serves me right. Don't worry about snapping it your drag will take the pressure before the rod snaps. Unless you use it like a light sabre ?

nice rods mate. i got one for my brother, he wasnt willing to spend the big bucks on a reel but convinced him to get a stradic FI 1000. i think it suits it pretty nicely. as for settings the hooks etc u shouldnt have too many problems, i really enjoy the light tip on it when using hard bodies and blades.

Yep, stradic FI( either 1000 or 2500) or the stradic ci4 2500.

Yeah id go the Stradic FI 1000... I highly doubt you will snap it mate, unless youre chasing snapper or big lizards (or high stick in silly situations lol).. Great rods though! I wouldnt really be trying to strike alot harder either, unless youre using older, blunt hooks, your normal strike should be fine.

Can I ask what the FI means?

F-ing Incredible.

Really it's just the model number. Like a 'BA' falcon for example

Mine had a twin power

Yeah mine was set up with a twin power and felt good, to me landed a nice 40cm bream on it the first week of having it. Then two weeks later in a comp the rod tip got slammed in the livewell compartment before I even got it set up and lost the top to the third guide . So I went back to using the first Mexican I bought years ago. Nice rod for the money and I have caught plenty of fish on it.

If your just starting out and have the cash up front to get a twin power go that way over the stradic. I always seem to have $50 spare to buy a couple of lures but never have $300 to buy a new reel .
