Is the Xi5 foot pedal worth it
Ill be picking up a new Xi5 was this week and would like to hear people’s thoughts on getting the foot pedal with it.
Is it worth the extra money or are you able to do everything you need to without it |

Dont have the Xi5, I have however had units with both foot pedals & remotes. the current unit is a wireless model motorguide.
Whilst I like the convenience of the remote, its useful when rigging up at the back of the boat or when casting from back there and viewing the sounder on the helm. When hooking up to a good fish in structure and needing to pull my adversary out from its gnarly home with the aid of the leccie, its here that a foot control comes into its own in my view. Being able to keep both hands on the rod, controlling the fish and gaining line where possible means these battles are won more times than lost........not always though. When the times to upgrade to an Xi5, I will certainly be adding the foot control to the purchase.

If you plan to bream fish around any sort of structure the foot pedal is a key piece of equipment. Great to be able to just reach across with your foot to tweak your path to the left or right and have your rod ready to fire a cast in.

I wouldn't have an electric without a foot pedal.
I had an I-Pilot with the remote only and hated it. Instead of fighting a fish you are steering the electric. Sold it and bought a Riptide with the foot pedal. |

100% yes. Makes it entirely hands free. Can spot lock of the foot pedal as well which is very handy
