Probably also need to include this link to his blog so no one gets put off getting one. In summary it was an issue with the first production run and shimano have been effective in replacing faulty reels.

Yeah, I saw that. In all honesty, the fact that this issue ever made it's way to production on a $1000 reel is beyond comprehension to me. I lost all interest in the current Stella SW due to QC issues and this just says to me that Shimano haven't picked the ball back up yet.

Unacceptable,no matter if it was the first or subsequent production run,QC applies to every item.

It sure is pretty poor quality control on their flagship reel. I'm sure there weren't any issues with the new Sienna though
