Needs more of a profound hump.

Part of me thinks that once the hump has been consumed by line - the original line lay will take over again - so the hump would have to be pretty close to the surface.
I will give it a crack though Actually - this theory will be pretty easy to sort out - I'll just keep stripping off line till it looks flat - and see how much of the 200m needed to come off to achieve flatness. Last edited by yellow door 1; 10-06-2019 at 09:27 AM. |

Ok so I stripped 200 metres off and you can still see the humps - Here its is at 175m. - Taped backing knot poking through

(the line counter was counting back from 1000)
And here she is after stipping off 193m - based on this info I'm gonna say that while building a hump might work on shallower spools - its not going to work on a big old bait runner 6500 you would have to build an enormous hump, almost all the way through for it too work - the "unco" line lay is just too strong |

Funny because it was fixed on my BX 6000 spinner - that I used early on in my live baiting foray. Such a crappy reel but by god its been a clunky old reliable thing... After pulling this thing out of hibernation I should rebuild it with bearings in all locations.
IMG_20190611_194905.jpg It suffered badly from the hour glass line lay effects and I didn't want anything to happen especially when I put carbon washers in the graphite spool. IMG_20190611_194804.jpg When I did do the hump it certainly was near perfect but as you showed it consumed a billion meters of 30lb line and was a fair exercise to accomplish. Not sure what's the deal with the angry face at the top?

So for this whole exercise I stripped the top shot off, and exposed the Maxima Ultra green underneath... I thought there was more top shot?
IMG_20190611_202121.jpg Anyhow showing the Ultragreen backing line in a hump. IMG_20190611_202030.jpg Then wound it all back onto the spool... Line through the tissue to show I actually did it. IMG_20190611_201953.jpg

Yeah I figured that would be the only way to make it work.
My hump got buried - then as soon as it got buried, the line lay reverted to normal. But I needed as much braid on there as possible for floating out balloons - so there was not alot of mono backing to start with Last edited by yellow door 1; 11-06-2019 at 06:55 AM. |

Move the car upto the ledge, scale the ledge by any means (anchor to the car), fish the ledge down the bottom...
Sorted 👌🏻🤣

Yeah My lures might cost 9c each - but I'm not going to put WD40 into a reel to save a few bucks.
WD40 might have a 1001 uses - but nearly all of them are wrong |
