Dunno about the 4000 but I had a 3000 hooked a little GT maybe 5kg and wrecked it although I was fishing it pretty hard :P... Sent it away to get repaired and they replaced the gears with freams gears.
May as well get a freams for a cheaper price. Sol 2 don't have my vote of confidence.

Yea I know!!!
They seem like such a versatile reel for boat, heavy shore work.
The big handle and the ratio appeal to me.
Monstarfish thanks for that, it's hard to understand how or why a freams would have better gearing??....there ya go

No idea?
I have the invoice somewhere with it itemizing the freams gears..
Seems strange now that I think of it cause the reels are different speeds.

I have the 3000, use it on the beach for tossing small metals at Tailor and Salmon much the same as boogzlen but not as often, had it for around 2 years, use it around 3 times a month. No problems so far no special maintenance just rinse it off in warm water after each use.

I also have the 2004 for breaming but use it for land based around the mariners and often get snapper as by catch. Have got them up to 3 kg and really have to crank the drag to stop them as it is all rock walls I am fishing. It has never let me down. Love the sol's old and new.

Been using a 2508 and 4000 sizes since they first came out.
Very impressed with them.

I use the 4000 size on Snapper and Jew in the bay as well as spinning for Tuna.
These little speedsters get them spinning.

So far they all work perfectly. No issues and still all have a silky smooth drag.
