Not long and I get my new Bream rod
Hi crew
I am currently using a Shimano Bushy Lurelegend 5' 10", it's such a great rod although lacks casting distance on the super light weights. A great mate gave this to me a few years ago, I've caught Bream, Redfin, Flathead even large Salmon on it. The tip had previously been snapped off and repaired before I received it. I find it hard to get cast distance and accuracy on the ultra light weights so I've put a new rod on layby. So it's an Ecooda Custom Blackhawk 6' 10" 2-4kg. How do people think it will go on my Yak (I think it's a bit long??) and how do you think it will compare to my Bushy Lurelegend? Look forward to hearing from you all.

I use a mixture of 7', 6'7" and 6'6" rods from the yak. I've never had any issues using 7' rods so I'm sure your new rod will be fine at that sort of length.

I'll happily use rods to to 7'6" from my Hobie Outback. I do use a longer handled landing net than most guys to help prevent high sticking though.
I think its more important ensure your rod has a short butt when fishing from a kayak. Long butts get in the way a lot when fishing from a seated position.

I have a hobie outback and use a net with a longish handle. Pretty much all the rods I use off it are 6'6-7'2, the only exception is my egi rod which is 8'3 but I get away with that because squid don't dive down the way fish do. I prefer rods with longer butts and haven't had an issue fishing off the yak with them.

Sounds like I am making the right choice. And sounds like I need to invest in a good long landing net as well. Thanks crew
