$250 On a reel?

Hey all,
I was going to buy a stradic ci4 until i started hearing bad stories from guys at a tackle shop, i only have a budget of $250 and no more , does anyone know of a good reel i could get for 250? Or should i stick to buying the ci4? I want to have the reel for a long time, as i dont make much money to upgrade very often etc. So basically the best reel for 250 or under.

The reel will be matched with a samaki zing 4-8lbs this helps.
The main purpose will be hardbody fishing for flathead-trevally-tailor-bream and maybe even trying to get some squire on soft plastics.

What have you heard about the Ci4 Stradic's?

If you are concerned about the body, don't be.

I know people that have landed Barra on these (2500 size) up to 80cm, and it still goes strong.

Also, they now make a 5000 size rarenium which is made of Ci4 and a Thunnus 8000 which is also made of Ci4 aswell.

So the body will surely hold up to anything a tailor can do.

Go the Stradic Ci4, it will get you threw thick and thin...

Actually, I'm also thinking of getting the C14, although in a 4000 to chase salmon off the beach. i have a Seajigger 315 to match it with. I have a Stradic fi4000 matched to another rod of similar size but figured I would upgrade to the c14 with the seajigger. I hadn't heard about the issues with the body before reading this thread. It is advertised in the US as a freshwater reel which I didn't take much notice of but should I stick with the FI perhaps (would prob buy another one)? Is the only diff between teh FI and the c14 the weight or is a different reel altogether?

Pretty much, plus an extra bearing on the Ci4.

Well weight isnt really an issue for me would it be better off just going with the fi?
I have only heard good things about them, i just want a reel that will last and is super smooth, any thoughts on the rarenium?

My stradic ci4 2500 is nearly a year and a half old now... its caught everything from bream to barra and even a couple of fairly large spotted mackeral and a heap of mack tuna, Their a tough reel just treat them right.

Try hunting round for a leftover twinpower, cant get any better for under $250. On the other hand try find a Sol for around that price, those things are bulletproof! Ive been thrashing my 2000 squire lately and it hasnt missed a beat.

The Rareniums feels better then the Stradic Ci4 IMO.

Lower ratio which is why I think it feels smoother.

Looks better and comes with a better Handle Knob aswell as a spare spool.

But they are more pricier, I got mine cheap but they retail around $349 up here.

Stradic ci42500

I have a couple of these and they are a great reel, I think if u can land one for under $200 you cannot go wrong.

I know a couple of other people with them and had no problems.

Good luck with your choice
