Howdy. Here is a link to an article i wrote on sooty grunter last year that has a little lure info that, hopefully, may be helpful. http://dev.video.ntnews.com.au/artic...5_fishing.html

I know its an old thread, but I love my sooty fishin, so here goes. Spinnerbaits, soft plastics, any kind of surface lure, flies, small to medium crankbaits (bibbed minnows),, pretty much anything that moves near them they will smash. Best bait by far is live shrimp, from the same river/creek you are fishing. Just lift up the rocks in the shallow water and grab the shrimp underneath. Also the most effective way to catch yabbies I have found. Cheers, Jim. Oh, and if you use suicide hooks (if you're baiting), you'll never miss a strike, they pin em everytime.
