Adding weight to my butt !!!!

Bought a millerod breambuster last week and got to fish with it this weekend. A super sensitive rod that loads up beautifully. I'll pair it up with either a stella 1000 or an exist 2004. The butt is quite a bit shorter than my other rods and I'd like to add a bit of weight to the butt end to balance it to feel similar to my other rods. 35 grams (3 x 20c pieces) seems to do the trick.

Anyone got any ideas of adding weight to the back other than super glueing the coins together and using a bit of gaffer tape to tape them on. Cheers.

Drill it out and pour lead in the end

Or just not and go fish with it, it’s 35g

Or pump silicone and ball bearings in it

Probably safer than hot lead lol

I would highly recommend taking it out for a long session with the 20c pieces duct taped in place before making anything permanent.

Something that feels great for 10 mins at home doesnt always feel that good out in the field

You could flatten some ball sinkers with a hammer to get a slightly better match for the diametre of the butt.

There are some rods out there that have a built in system to add and subtract weights - I'll try and find how they do it - I think they add a screw in butt cap

Thanks for all the links yellowdoor. Good tip on trying it out first. Yep I don’t really want to damage the rod so think I will try out one of the weighted butt caps that just slides on. Looks like it might donthebjobbifnits a snug fit.

Yeah you can fatten up the diametre of the rod butt with duct tape if you cant find the perfect rubber cap. Or just to make it super snug.

These rubber out door chair stoppers weigh 34g - but they are in a pack of 4 so I'm not sure if its a per unit weight or total - and you might have to boil them up to stretch them over the butt
