Bushfire aftermath

I know not everyone came through the bushfires ok and my thoughts go out to those affected by them. For those who live in affected regions, has the fishing been impacted? I saw pictures of ash washed up on nsw beaches and I imagine the estuaries have also been fire and ash affected. I wondered what effects (if any) there have been on fish stocks and fishing.

DELWP, ARI & CMAs have been out in Vic checking weather quality.

Together with the Arthur Rylah Institute we've been undertaking water quality sampling in rivers affected by bushfire.

Monitoring will continue into next week and beyond, but after visits to the Bemm, the Tambo and the Snowy systems this week, all samples tell us that 🐟🐟🐟 are doing 👍👍👍

Where there has been a build up ash in the first rain run off, some Gippy estuaries have been opened to clean out into the ocean.

Hopefully the regrowth is quick from the rain and stops the ash from flowing into the rivers.
