New registrations disabled?

Hi team,
I was pointing a work colleague to Breammaster and he pointed out that he couldn't figure out how to register.

I had a quick look and it looks like the rego has been turned off?

I went here - http://www.breammaster.com/forum/register.php

And got a message "Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator."

Any help please?

Thanks

Registration has been disabled for some time and was causing the major issues we had a while back, it seemed that while the registrations were open we were having spam bots bombarding the registration page relentlessly causing the site to crash and chewing up all of our bandwidth.

How and why? I have no idea.

The site appears to be a lot more stable (not that our hosts will admit anything was wrong from their end) so I will try and open registartions again and see how we go.

If we get bombarded again I will be shutting it down and anyone wanting to register can do what everyone else has been doing and send am e mail to webmaster @ breammaster . com (close the spaces)

Ahh. OK. Sorry Ian. Wasn't aware that there was an alternative way to organise rego.

Bloody spam bots ruining everything.

Thanks for the reply.

All good!

The barrage has already started, I have no idea how a spam bot can get through the double captcha? I presume they bypass it somehow.

Inbox 30 new registrations this morning, 1 that is maybe legit...

I have disabled forum registrations again, anyone wanting to sign up will need to contact me.

All I am getting are spam registrations, will try again at a later date once I work out how to narrow down the amount of spam accounts getting through the system.

New registration

Hi, I registered yesterday and looks like I got through that small window of opportunity. Glad I did. Great to be here and look forward to learning and being part of what looks to be a great community. I recently started fishing on the flats of the northern parts of Port Stephens (Carrington) and have renewed my boyhood love of fishing. Cheers Tim.
