OK guys does anyone know the name of the white (plastic stuff lol) that is used instead of plywood on a boat floor. And has anyone used it and wished they hadn't (if so why).

Seaboard is a white heavy plastic used in many boating applications.
Another option is many of the composite boards available. I priced two sheets of a product made in NSW, 1200 X 2400 $1500, compared to two boards of marine ply of same dimensions for $120... There are other composite boards available, some honeycomb style which are just as good as solid sheets, and far lighter.

I have made a rear deck for my boat out of Nema board (aka Wetline). It is reasonably priced and holding up well after a couple of years. It has its advantages and disadvantages....

i used a materiel called "uniboard"
it aint cheap, but sometimes the local supplier, "Dotmar Engineering" have seconds sheets. Think I paid less than $100 for a sheet that was 1200 x 1800. it comes in many thicknesses and colours. It WILL need to be covered with something non slip and I was told that nothing will stick to it, but I glued & carpeted it no worries. The boat I used it in is now gone to a new owner, but it never gave me any trouble n will never rot like the timber floor supplied by the manufacturer.

following as my floor rotted and one step in the wrong place by mate has split it almost in half
was replaced 4 years ago roughly and in 3 weeks time will be garaged more than previous so might be time to go better quality material myself aswell
