Hard Body Question
Hello guys, been a while!
I just have a question regarding using hard body lures. As most of you know, there are pretty much two types of hard bodies, shallow running and deep running ones. My question is, can someone use a deep running lure in a shallow setting? I ask this because I sometimes don't really know how deep the flats are where I fish and stress what type I use. |

If you hold your rod up in the air the lure will run much higher in the water than if you hold the rod tip close to the water.

getting a lure to dive into the sand and stir it up can be very effective

+1. I have often found 'high sticking' can allow me to use my favourite deeper diving lures in a shallow situation. As noted above disturbing the bottom is also a great way of attracting the fish . Regards, HBt.

Add to this if your on the bottom pause more often to give the fish a chance to get there also when it drops off the flats you can then drop the rod tip down so it stays on or near the bottom till it finds its maximum depth.

Grind the flats, a doonka doonk doonk into the flats has made a lot of people happy when I've been out guiding the take is different but you will know.
