The BC rods in the pic are from the very first samples we got in- there counter parts with recoils on were sold as demo rods. Unfortunately for me I dont get to fish with the best build, I get to fish with whats left As I mentioned my comments will be met with mixed responses. You do make some valid points and all of those points were considered. I dont go into all the specifics of weights of guides their vibration levels , how rigid they are etc etc. I prefer to put them on a rod -fish with it and then decide which feels better. I only judge sensitivity by how much I can feel the lure be it a soft plastic or a hardbody and not only on a standard cast but also in 30ft-50ft of water. Please don't get me wrong guys I am only stating that the way we have worked to build the EDGE RODS gives the angler the best possible feeling as to what is going on at the terminal end AS I said before once you pick up one you will know WHY - regards

Thanks for the detailed feedback. It's extremely refreshing to read a thread like this. I'm definitely all the more keen to check these rods out.... had the transmission in my car not blown up today, I would be a few months closer to grabbing one of these babies fishing technology and development is definitely a refreshing field to explore and read about. It's products like these that make reading forums a happy place for me 😊

Sorry to hijack but hopefully someone can help me.
Is there a slower actioned rod in the range, say like the loomis sr842 or tsr862? Thanks - great thread! |

Id say the 702-2 was like the SR. The edge version was more refined with less flat spot and had more grunt when locked up hard but in terms of casting and working a lure id say it might be pretty close in feel to the SR.

I have just purchased an ISR 765 for landbased barra fishing.
Had the opportunity to take it out today for a proper fish as the temperature today was a bit warmer and the tides good for my favourite spot. All I can say is that this rod is a weapon. Using 25lb braid and 50lb fluorocarbon leader and had no problems with knots going through the guides and no windknots. Tip is sensitive enough to feel every bump and the braid touching the mullets as I retrieved through the schools. Once the fish was on. The blank loaded up very quickly and had heaps of grunt to fight it out. Even though I had the 3000 Stella on. It did not feel underpowered at all. Love the new rod and the new Stella FI's. The reel is getting smoother and smoother the more I use it. |
