Remember Daiwa Capricorns? - are they back?

When I started breaming you either had a Daiwa Capricorn or Shimano Stradic.

Have the Capricorns come back or is this something else with the same name.

Bit like the Laguna "Hardbodiez" reels - near decade later and they brought out a reel with the same name but about 1/10th the worth of the original reel.

Seems that they make a reel and capture a body of faithful owners - subsequently drop that reel and bring in a substitute that really disappoints the existing owners and years later bring back another reel that shares little to no resemblance to the original with the same name - 50/50 chance of huge disappointment too with repurchasing owners.

Thanks Slaz - It occurred to me, after purchase, that this may be the case

If I had not had a $50 voucher burning a hole in my back pocket - I may have done a bit more research before pulling the trigger

I've since read that big retail chains commission these come backs of old reels made from dodgy parts. Sounds like I might have been had.

Hard to find reels made these days lasting those kind of years.

Got the cappy - it was a bit noisier than I'd hoped for but not bad at low revs

Probably not such a good idea to wind a reel like that - not designed to do so, the gears teeth will suffer.

Anyhow a comparison of the old Laguna and the new Laguna... The white scheme now probably trying to capitalise on the old Stradic FJ looks.
