Daiwa: How is it superior?

Hi, all

I usually hang around TT forums but recently gotten into Bream/UL tackle fishing.
Firstly, I'm looking due input and advice, not here to start disputes.
I live in NQ and started fishing with the help of a local shimano store. Having also cycled on shimano parts all my life I just "stuck with it". Lately I have been diversified to other brands including a zillion PE special 7.9 which I love.

It seems on BM forums its Daiwa for light spin and that's the final word.
How is Daiwa superior? I currently have 2 light spin reels, a Patriarch 9530XT and a Shimano Vanquish C2000HGS which is my current favourite,
It's smooth with 12 bearings, fast 79cm/turn and light at 160g. It's a direct match up to a Daiwa 2004.

Now I'm thinking of getting a daiwa setup, how would a certate hgc, steez 2004 or an Exist compare (besides weight...not too much a factor)

Again...pls don't flame me.

Thx in advance

The short story is It's not superior mate, both shimano and daiwa make top quality gear, where daiwa win is with bling factor.

G'day mate!
I am a user of both brands and have no affiliations with either. The way I see it is that Daiwa have the light finesse stuff dialed, especially with the 2004 and 2506 sized reels. Shimano is the standard for a solid workhorse reel that can really take a flogging and come back for more, I have been using both brands for a long time now and this is just my opinion.

And they got the bling factor, you are right redrocket. But the way I see it is that it's fishin, not fashion...

To true, like u I use both, love the feel and look of my steze and certates but not many reels could take the punishment that my baitrunners have copped

Bling huh,

Shimanos don't look to shabby either... More angular and mechanical I guess.

And a bit off topic, looks wise I think these are tops:

Just gotta fill 3/4 of the spool with filler

And we can thank both brands, which ever brand you love or hate for developments in said reels, I for one don't affiliate with either brand. And if there was only one major jap brand it would be boring!

I agree daiwas smaller sizes are silky smooth and for finesse styles of fishing are the ducks nuts but then go to a stella as said above, is a work horse, tough as and look neat, not to over the top, which I prefer

It's like the Holden V Ford.... if either was distinctively better, than the other would be out of business, they are each other's biggest competitors which means they keep each other on their toes.
personally, I prefer Daiwa... just like I prefer Ford... I don't think either of them are superior, I just like them more.
