Got Gas?
For anyone whos ever wondered how much gas is left in their swap 'n' go. Their website is a bit confusing - so I busted out the scales
An empty one weighs 8.4kg and a full one weighs 18kg Happy BBQing Yall |

Also - while hunting around I found some interesting facts on prices.
It turns out retailers set their own prices for the service. And those prices can fluctuate through out the year As of Yesterday - my local Bunnings Price For 8.5 kg* swap'n'go was $26.95 and they were $29.95 at 7/11 Heres a quote from a disgruntled customer from 4 years ago "Stopped at a caltex to swap gas. Thought 37.95 an absolute rip off for 9kg of gas so stopped at bunnings where it was 22.98. Their usual price but still a deal compared to everywhere else. thought this could save some ozbargainers 15 bucks given its the Australia day long weekend and many of us have bbq's." |

Apart from picking up a gas bottle and shaking it - there's also a few other ways to check how full it is.
As Liquid gas is cold, there's usually a temperature difference on the tank - its hard to feel this difference by hand but it can be monitored. There are magnetic strips, which I assume are thermometers, you can attach to the bottle You can also pour hot water water over the tank then see where the condensation line appears. I've tried this method and its a bit of mucking around and not always easy to tell. The only real way to ensure you dont have to make a trip to the servo mid BBQ is to have a couple of bottles and ensure one is always full Last edited by yellow door 1; 11-12-2018 at 10:58 PM. |
