We dont have any stockists in Sydney at the moment mate - all our stock has gone into Victoria , South Australia, Brissie, Regional NSW and Gold Coast. We are waiting for our new stock to arrive and we should be broadening our stockist list then. Head into your local store that stocks our gear and ask them about the rods mate as we have had a few stores from Sydney enquire about them.

Regards

Rod

I'm after a bait caster model either the 8-14lb or 10-17 but up to 3/4oz I'll go for the 10-17lb one

At this stage we only bring that rod in the HM version . It is my go to barra rod for all general fishing. If i wanna throw the bigger plastics and put a LOT of hurt on a fish I use the SC BCR 666

With the entrance of the Edge Nickel Black series, Gary announced a drop in price in the current line up (to be taken up by the new top of the line rods)

Is this happening in Australia as well?

Mate we are aware of what was said on line at ICAST but our distributor prices still haven't changed, when they do then the store prices will . We are still trying to secure samples of the first strike models to see how their ratings compare to the actual actions of the rods. I believe that as with the Black widow models we may well need to alter them to suit our fisheries and have our own range, but we will know more about this when we use them.

regards

Rod

I see thanks, the EFX has surpassed their kickstarter for funding to produce. They'll be out someday.
Do you stock unaltered BWs? I kinda like design that Loomis himself deemed the best.

No mate - we bring in our own range that we tweaked to add to the performance and sensitivity of the original prototype. We did this in conjunction with Gary Loomis via Skype- so not guessing from youtube clips and write ups - but in actual weekly discussions with him after testing several ulterior builds.
We are happy with the rods we are bringing in and so is he, so all good.

Looking forward to fishing with the First Strike range when the samples land in 2 weeks.

Gary Loomis gives some good insight into why they use Graphite for their butts instead of cork

Regards

Totally get it. Gary is a thinker not a follower. Love innovation.

I like it. This is strictly personal preference but I love the move away from the built up reels seats in diawa gen blacks, duffs etc.

When fishing for lighter species like bream I don't see a large grip surface as necessary. a thinner minimalist seat and handle allows for more "finesse" hold.

Gary's idea of having the palm over a conductor for vibration. Also totally get it. although comfortable, too many rods with built up seats are built with pretty much vibration damping materials.

Function over hype is the biggest selling point of Gary's creations.

- Minimalist seats,
- a non porous vibration conductor.
- function over the current status quo on appearance

You're not alone there. lets hope Australia "gets it" too.

A pair of the most capably small HB cranking sticks around.

Here's to the thinkers rather than the followers.

I have been using Edge rods for a year now, and honestly wouldn't go back to any other rod. The sensitivity, lightweight and performance of them is far superior to any other bream style rod I have ever used. I have sold off my premium branded Japanese rods to finance more Edge Rods!

A massive thumbs up to the guys at Fishtec for proactive development of the rods to suit Australian anglers and conditions. Well done! Now, the only issue I have is deciding which model is next in the kit.....
