I basically only catch and release little stockies, so my main concern is getting them back in the water with the least damage.
That means constant retrieves to reduce the incidence of swallowing the lure deep - 2 inch atomic grubs and barbless jigheads. I used to use ecogear sx40's but the trebles tear the young trouts mouths apart. Using barbless means you lose a few when they jump - but if you are releasing them - that just saves getting you hands wet |

I love that colour in the Rapala, the only problem is with the F3 those hooks can tangle when casting but still a great great lure in streams. How many lures are still have thier magic after ninty years of production.
The best lure you could buy is a Zipbait Rigge if only they would do a proper brown trout pattern, I retrieve the rigge almost as slow as a soft plastic and their deadly on trout. |

My go to is the daiwa Dr minnow 50mm jointed. Has an exceptional action on the roll and trout just love it. Filmed a video on Tuesday catching trout on a heap of different lures and it had the action I liked the most out of them but there were some other good contenders in there.

Keitech Easy Shiner 2-4" in ayu, depending on the situation. Perfect galaxia immitation with a nice tail wag.
Old school 3.5" Ttail in the green colour just can't find them anymore. 4" DOA minnow in watermelon green I think it is. Really nice action to them if you want something a bit more eratic. As for hardbodies, husky jerk 10 is dynamite, just hard to find!! |
