If its the knot tying tool you're talking about, it worked perfect first go and absolutely zero slippage in everything from 8lb braid and 4lb FC leaders up to 30lb braid and 60lb leaders.

Got to say the tool is tempting... why is it there is always something else to buy???? I used to tie the FG knot and really liked it strength wise but it was a PITA to do. I switched to the seaguar knot using the daiwa knot tool. Its so quick to tie but I do have a fair few breaks at the leader-braid knot. Personally I'd much prefer to break at the lure. Slim beauty doesn't play well with the micro guides on my pinster so isn't really an option. Might have to spring for the tool .... |

I tie it if I'm replacing a leader at home ... if I'm on the water than I just do a seaguar knot for speed and convenience. If the knot assist gives me the same convenience and speed for an FG then its money well spent in my book. Maybe I'll have a crack at the stripper guide version. |

I'm all thumbs and 2 left hands.
Couldn't tie a FG to save myself. Got the tool you linked. Now I can tie a decent FG*, but I kind of wish I'd tried some other methods (tie to stripper guide etc) befors spending the $60. *Have only tried in 6-10lb (0.6 - 0.8) braid, and easy as with 6-12lb leader. gets tricky with 4lb leader (leader breaks while tying if not careful). Haven't managed one in 2lb leader. Certainly a slimmer, stronger knot than the slim beauty though. |

Must say I've never had any trouble with breakages while tying 4lb.
