I now have two Affinity reels and they are fantastic value for money. They lay the line really well and have a very good drag - I use them for everything except the very heavy stuff. ie Bream, tailor, salmon, queenies and small GT. I treat my reels pretty hard and they have done well.

I caught my 49cm squire and my 89 cm flathead on a symetre, i would use my symetre on 5kg plus snapper with say 14lb fireline in a heartbeat, yes they have an exellent drag, yes they are that good, mine has had 40 trips now i guess and it looks like new, they are the ducks nuts ok, friday i bought a stradic 1000 and it feels great.

See link for squire pic...http://www.breammaster.com/forum/sho...threadid=11502

im lookin at buying a shimano symetre 1500 or stradic 1000 cos they look like a great reel and i ve heard some great things about about them. i simply dont like the look of the penn affinity but thats just me and im probably goin to upset many people by saying this.

IMO the affinty is faaar better the the shimano. Affinity > Stradic, imo. Its just they way its built. A bit heavier, but alot stronger so itll last longer.
