its a snap

my wife while out shopping stumbled across these and bought a bucket load. its basically a snap. they are light and really easy to use.
I used one on my last trip and switching from pop dog to scum dog was really easy. the extra weight didnt effect the action of the lures either...

anyone seen this before?

I haven't got any of those..... but i have got these little beauties.
I just love them, i use them on all my small bream/bass lures. They are small enough so as not to spook the fish but also provide plenty of movement and are easy to change lures with.

Well i got mine online from Cabelas. I haven't seen these in Australia as of yet but no-doubt some would supply them.

I have only ever had 1 fall off, and i was using a fairly heavy lure intended for Murray Cod. But i have never lost 1 as of so far whilst casting light bream lures, nor have i had any bend.

I got a pack of 20 of these in Indonesia for 1000 rupiah (about 11c). They are designed for attaching a running float for pole fishing but they work great on jig heads and HBs as well.

Why don't you guys just retie the leader to hook/jighead/lure each time you change, rather than tie on extra hardware.?

A knot isn't hard to do

i got these sick new Decoy snaps in size 00 and they are so small!!!
hard to get open which is a good thing when you think about it but i just get some pliers and they work really well!!!
and Dodgy Back people love the convenience of snaps as you can just clip one on straight away.
say you were fishing for bream and a school of GH(giant herring) swims by.
by the time you finish tieing a knot they probs would have moved off and you missed out on a epic battle!!

cheers, BTF

Some of those snaps look very weak indeed, not sure how they'll stand upto a solid fish trying to pull them back into snags.
I agree with Dodgey here, much simpler to tie a knot then to have to tie a knot to a fiddly little snap and then have to attach the snap to the lure. I guess its a matter of oppinion, but I have tried snaps before and found it much slower and more painful to have to stuff around using pliers to make sure the snaps are closed/open then it is to tie a quick knot.

+1 sometimes i do get lazy tho, like casting slugs for salmon and trolling big lures. but i just wouldnt trust it with bream

Most small bream lures are not designed to be used with snaps so yeah tying on presents the lure better.

Very handy though when experimenting with new stuff or if the spot is shut down and trying to find the right thing to entice a strike out of fish. sometimes i change seven or eight times b4 i finally have what the fish want on the end of my line. but once i have the right bit of gear on i dont want the snap there.

They are strong though. Very strong. Ive used those little ones for sliding a live bait down 25lb mono for mulloway. No mulloway but the snap held up to a 25kg eagle ray.

I used to use small decoy snaps but found them too fiddly.

By the time you undo the snap, take off the lure, put on another lure and clicked it back in.

You might aswell have tied a knot.

Secondly, I feel more secure with knots then snaps.
