They might be ok with a normal HB lure but don't fish them with Tiemco's or Rhaphael's though, mine fell off.
cheers nereus

I don't think i'd trust the first ones IMO, looks dodgy to me that open bit but thats just me.

Riceboy i like the look of the squid ones, they look way easier to open than your standard lure clips.

Agreed
I did a destruction test on the smallest Mustad ones
I was snapping 30lb mono tied with a 7 turn uni knot and the snaps were fine
NONE of my bream rods or reels pull that kind of drag

One caveat - don't attach them to split rings - you'll get the dreaded fizz and weightless gone feeling as your lures flies over the farthest horizon while your leader hangs 4 inches out from your rod tip

strictly a direct to eyelet usage only!

Easy to open = easy to open
thats not good

Actually quite the opposite.....they DONT open at all!!

The idea is you twist your lure off the clip. Hence the hook end of the clip is quite long and wide but believe me, nothing comes off this clip unless you take it off.

Have you personally used them? They are the same as your standard Decoy style snaps they are just a different shape that looks a lot easier to open. The Decoy ones for me are almost impossible and i often end up using pliers lol

The Breaden snaps look perfect to me. I'd trust them over the open type for sure. I'm going to track some down. What size are they? comparable to the small decoys 0's?

Those open types do look alright but I reckon a couple of messy casts could see them spinning and unhooking themselves?

a mate of mine was using these all day last w-end and whilst at first I thought they looked a little too easy to disconnect from, he never lost a lure all day and there was plenty of structure....
cheers.

I've fished with the open type snaps pictured in the first post and they are absolutely brilliant in my opinion. They weigh next to nothing and even on my smallest trout lure - a 3cm Nilsmaster, promote perfect action. Normal snaps inhibit the action and in the past it meant that loop knots, or the Rapala knot had to be used. They are a good thing and I've never had one fail in plenty of trips and plenty of fish.

cheers

Edit - Growse, that same clown couldn't stay connected to any of the blardy browns though. Still waiting for the 4wt!
