Actually now I think about it that was happening to me the other day with a Sammy. I thought it was me being useless haha. But found it worked fine with Dog X Jrs , Fakie dogs and PX55.

ive been told hat a clip puts the fish off ......

ive recently caught my pb bream and it was on a critter attached to a clip .

i like to change lures and plastics a fair bit so i guess il stick with the clips .

I usually tie a lure knot as I find big fingers and small snaps don't go together

yeah. i wrote at the top of the page how i liked them until i lost a fav jp runt on them. caught heaps of bass with them but that one must have turned its head a few times and managed to slip the lure off. not happy jan.

For breaming, no knot fast snap variant. No problems wharsoever in 3+ years. Trevs to 45 cm, flatties to 60 cm no probs.

For anything bigger, I'll tie a uni knot to the split ring. Would prefer to tie a loop knot (no split ring), but too lazy to learn any of the loop knots...

Decoy 00 and 0 size, never ever had an issue with a bust off and yes I am a serial lure changer...

Clips for hards and loops or uni for softs. I don't like to add on things (soft plastics). hardbodies I take the split rings off and put a clip on directly and soft plastics I tie the leader straight to because a softie with a clip doesn't look good presentation wise. plus I find that some lures don't get the right action out of them when I put a loop knot on.

Loop knot always for Hards. Placcies i just tie straight on, never found it necessary to have loop knots for most plastics. Don't use clips anymore, easy just to tie a loop.
