Those clips that that just wind around without clipping back onto itself are not reliable. They self release eventually and you will lose lures.

+1 the owner P20 snaps. Very nice and strong. Good design. Easy to use.

Those figure 8 style clips maybe?

I know these clips are different to what you had in mind and i've mentioned them before but I haven't had any problems with these Mustads.

The type where if there is any force opposite to the way they go on they unclip. Like in the picture above. The ones that don't clip back onto themselves.

I've tried them plenty of times and sooner or later they get in a position to come undone and that's what happens.

They may work for you but for me they were unreliable.

Have you tried the Mustads though?

These require a great deal more than "any force" to release. And i haven't lost a single lure, not one! So far, the Mustads have proven 100% reliable!

I've probably put the moz on myself now though....

Gotta agree with you personally I wouldn't trust them I always tie to a split ring with a uni or straight to a jighead with a uni. No split ring I just use a loop knot. If im trolling for trout I might run snaps.

But everyone has their own opinions and experiences and if it works for you then theres no problem.

I originally started using Breaden snaps for my squid jigs, but now I use them for all lures, except soft plastics, and I haven't had any issues.

I tried Decoys the same shape as the Mustads. They are very tight to put on and off but that doesn't matter because they can get themselves in a position where they can unclip using the full force of the line pulling, if that makes sense.

The most common time for them to release was when the lure was snagged and trying to get it off.

I don't know, everyone does things there own way so maybe they will work ok for some people but from my experience they are unreliable. The type that clip back onto themselves work good though.

I don't have them anymore but they look exactly like these Fas-Snaps. I think any that don't clip back onto itself somehow will probably have similar problems.

What about these? Used them up north and didn't give out on a big shark dad hooked or a big queenie

I have used these before but found the coil loop where the line attaches cuts through the line on the end of the coil loop.
You need to keep an eye on this..
