So Albany boys drive 500 km to get their bream ? interesting,,

Don't think you need a clutch to drive, you can change gears without one, must get the revs right tho (could mean giving the accerater a tickle when you change) never from first hand experience tho, could depend on the type of gearbox as well maybe ,,,

Found one artilce,,its about matching your revs apparently which is what i thought,,, http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum...ut-clutch.html

First to second is the hard one. Beyond that slamming it in with suitable revs does work. Just look at your speed, think what your car would rev at that speed with desired gear and match. The problem is starting up, you would need a good push start to do the equivalent, maybe even going straight into 3rd if its a small car.

I think Dowelly was towing a boat, might make life a bit harder,,

The boys in the thread say slip it in using your finger tips only,as not to damage the cogs/teeth ?

Over a long distance he was probally correct getting a tow, the jury seems to be out whether long term damage might be sustained,,

all well and good if your clutch wont disengage, but what if it wont engage? Bit hard to do 1km let alone 500 with a fried clutch plate

You probably right, Ive only done it short distances and certainly not towing a boat.

My understanding is the clutch makes life smoother between the gear box and motor, its great to have but you don't need it,use the accerator to get the revs right and the gears will slip in,its a bushmans trick but well worth learning if a Cougars are circling outside the car

If folks don't understand at no time do you touch the clutch, forget its there.

I saw this once with a truck driver,,he said watch this and changed up and down without the clutch while watching the tachmeter (rev counter).

bit hard to drive when your in gear and your foot isnt even on the clutch.
i only got a new clutch in 6 months ago!!
its a hydrolic system so no chance of repairs, just have to buy the pressure plate.
Thank god i work in parts or it would have been very 'exy'
will get a post happening of the trip!

If they actually exist out in the bush, you'd know it the smallest cougars are females and are around 50 kilo and thats only in certain parts of their range, it's also yet to be proven anywhere in the world that noth american cougars have a black variant, in a couple of hundred years since they were discovered.
The smaller south american cougars that may have a melanistic phase are so rare that having one in a circus or for a mascot just wouldn't happen.

south american jaguars, african & asain leopards both have melanistic variants both get called black panthers, but they are both 8 feet long average when they are adults. and couple of hundred kilo.

If you saw one in the bush, i'm pretty sure it'd be the last thing you saw.

Feral cats can easily reach a meter long.

Dont forget the yowies - its 6 parter - part one has a 5 minute glitch (possibly yowie related) but part 5 introduces the only known Australian to have a chance in a punch on with one
