Shimano and Daiwa seemed to do a handshake agreement where they swapped friction and magnetic cast control between each other (including worm and loco oscillation)...

Magnetic cast control is quiet fine compared to friction, it comes on linear rather than instantly like friction. One half dozen between the two imho, less to go wrong with friction though...
