What Would You Add?

Done this with general hulls, but we haven't given kayaks and canoes the ideas they deserve and considering I've just bought myself an Old Town Guide 160, thought it might be a good time to see what ideas people have that they have used.

Here's a few I've seen that are on my list:

Folding anchor

Work deck, great spot for the stubbie cooler

Spot for the leccy

Thinking about one of these to mount the sounder etc on

Extra seat for the little man

You could even use some of the car ones that are around.

A couple of Ram or Scotty mount rod holders would go well. They can be fixed to a vertical or horizontal face.

First thing would be a leccy mount. Then I'd be adding horizontal rod racks (saves tips creek bashing) and a removable, rotatable sounder mount that clips to the middle support bar and can be viewed from both the front and back seats.

That would be pretty much it. Less stuff in the way the better.

I guess less is more with a kayak... The less that protrudes and hinders the usefull space on a kayak is better than cramming everything in such as GPS mounts, rod holders that are mounted on the gunnals near paddeling positions...

I have just fitting out my new Viking Tempo and ensured that things are open and feel ergonomic and are in no way a hinderance, most people say that there aint anything installed... But there is everything that I need and will need - and everything I wont need to get entangled in etc...

Anyhow the specs are basically, Berkley rod holder, Humminbird Sounder, Battery Box anchor tie downs, Minn Kota Endura 30lb and a few other bits that let me strap things in and out of the road... (which have been installed but not photographed since)

Hope this helps :D

Made my own motor mount out of some pine and seems to do the trick. Would cost about $12.50 :p

Thaks,

It's not too bad, i have stood and sight casted bream from it no problem, would be rock solid with an outrigger, which i've been thinking of.

Dale.
